If you were introduced to someone this afternoon, it’s pretty likely you’d be asked about what you do. It’s so likely, in fact, you’ve probably got a quick and easy answer that just automatically spills out when you’re asked. Your answer is probably a simplified, easy-to-digest version of your real job description, not unlike Hank Hill’s “propane and propane accessories” line.
For Core Group, the headers on the “About Us” section of our website don’t exactly capture all the nuances and details of what gets us out of bed in the morning. So what is it we do exactly?
A great way to get your mind around Core Group is to look at what we don’t do. So let’s take a minute to examine a few things that we aren’t.
We aren’t just a tax service
If you need someone to do your taxes, then we’re probably not who you’re looking for. It might seem a bit contradictory because we help our clients plan and manage their tax liability to make sure it doesn’t sneak up and bite you each April. But what we really do is more proactive.
We help our clients streamline their operations and stay in a position where their taxes aren’t surprising. Saying that we help do our clients’ taxes is like saying that a coach only helps his team in the last few seconds of the game.
We aren’t an outsourced accounting service
With our unique Core Financial Process (built into our Core Tax Process), we can deliver timely, accurate, and complete financial information to plan and predict your taxes. We’ve designed this process so as to require the least amount of effort from you. We do NOT, however, keep track of your accounts receivable or do bill paying. We do not work inside your current accounting software.
We aren’t one of those services who’s waiting-for-you-to-call like a plumber or doctor
Would it be weird if your plumber called every now and then just to make sure your pipes are working properly? Most services don’t work that way – they wait for you to call when you need them, and this is why Core Group US is different.
Our model is very hands-on and designed to help our clients in both their day-to-day work and that slow, incremental process of moving towards the big-picture strategic goals. That’s just not something we could effectively do if we sat on our hands.
We’re not limited to certain industries
We work with clients in a wide variety of occupations as the core processes that we offer are broadly applicable to almost any industry. The one thing they have in common is they want to GROW!
Before you tell yourself, “Yeah, it sounds great but they probably don’t know the ins and outs of [insert your business here],” give us a shot. We didn’t get to where we’re at by only helping online retailers who specialize in left-handed zebra shears.
We’re not able to assist in anything weed-related
As it turns out, there is one industry that we’re not involved in, and that’s the cannabis industry. Yes, it certainly is one of the fastest-growing industries in America, but even though many state and local jurisdictions have pronounced they’ve got no problems with weed, it’s still prohibited at the federal level. This represents serious issues with this industry’s ability to operate in the financial system, and for that reason, Core Group can’t get involved at this time.
